Fri Flyt overall rating of Elan Ibex 94 Carbon XLT:

8 / 10

Hard snow:
7 / 10
Soft snow:
8 / 10
Up:
9 / 10
Technical info:
This light and expensive Ibex model is considerably lighter than its orange little sister. This is mainly due to the materials used in the XLT version. Apart from the weight difference, the two models are very similar. Both Elan models have little camber. There is a one metre difference in sidecut radius.

On snow:
The practical difference between the two Elan models is primarily uphill - XLT is considerably lighter. It is also easy to maneuver and turn. However, XLT is actually a little more responsive and precise, and a notch more stable at speed - despite the lower weight. This is a good choice for picky riders who want a light ski that is easy to maneuver.
