Technical info:
Kästle´s BMX series has been updated this year. This is an upscaled version of the BMX 105. It is one centimetre wider, the tip and tail are softer and tail and a lower bend. Apart from this, the two models are very similar. Medium heavy fibreglass sandwich. The ski has a shorter sidecut radius towards the tip and the tips are softer than the waist.

On snow:
Several of the other big-mountain skis in the test prefer going straight forward. This ski is built for speed, but functions well in the turns as well. It is also easy to adjust the length of the turns and it has good flotation. It feels big and solid, but the tips were a little unstable in heavy new snow and/or at high speed, so the good old freight-train metaphor is not valid here. It is a good choice for those who like long powder turns.

This sequence of numbers indicates stiffness. Each number corresponds to a part of the ski, from tail to tip. 5 equals the average
for this part and length of the ski. Lower values indicate softer skis, higher values stiffer.
