Technical info:
Salomon´s QST series is new this year. Because of the flax and carbon fibre construction, all of the skis in the series have low specific weight. But the 106 is considerably different from the 118 we tested earlier this autumn. The 106 has a soft tip and it has a lot of sidecut in the waist, which is very different from that of its older brother. There is also less rocker in the back ski.

On snow:
This is a fairly light freeride ski that might work well with tech bindings. It can also be an option if you are good at finding soft and unchopped snow. The big, soft tip flutters at speed on hard snow, and it doesn’t always work that well in powder landings. It is best suited for the experienced rider who is looking for versatility and not necessarily the big challenges.

This sequence of numbers indicates stiffness. Each number corresponds to a part of the ski, from tail to tip. 5 equals the average
for this part and length of the ski. Lower values indicate softer skis, higher values stiffer.
